2019 Dead Horse Gap Run

As is the St Moritz tradition, we close our season with a run to Dead Horse Gap, concluded with a BBQ lunch. This year we were delighted to have along as our guest, skiing legend Steve Lee. Steve skied the morning with our squads, showing them how even humble beginnings can end on an Olympic podium.

Athletes and parents enjoyed a sunny run through the trees, sheparded by the Thredbo ski patrol and their dedicated instructors. Even though the snow conditions weren’t quite up to the high standard set in previous years, it was a wonderful experience for all to get “backcountry”.

Thanks to the committee members who facilitated our season ending BBQ. It is a very warm, welcoming sight (and smell) to ski that last ridge knowing a deluxe sausage sizzle awaits with perhaps a few beers and ski tales too.

Thank you to our members, parents and athletes who have made this season one of our very best yet! We are increasing our athlete numbers, have more athletes competing and winning individual and team medals in interschools and satellite events The Redlands Cup & Amelia McGuiness time trail and we’ve had two athletes compete at the Interschools nationals at Mt Buller. We can’t wait for an even bigger and better 2020 season. Hope to see you all there - bring your friends :)
